The winners of this year’s competition have been announced! Mila and Max Dorka from Werner-von-Siemens-Schule Bad Harzburg came out on top in both the crowd voting and the final pitches, taking first place with prize money of €500. With their project “Handic.app“, they want to make it easier for people with disabilities to access event tickets via their own app. Felix Saathoff and Lorenz Rutkevich from Teletta-Groß-Gymnasium Leer took second place with “SeesDisease“, an AI-supported analysis of tissue samples. Third place went to Zümrüt Alan from Gymnasium in der Wüste Osnabrück with her project “Heartbeat of Innovation“, in which she uses mathematical analysis and software programming to improve the detection of cardiac arrhythmia from ECG signals.
Kevin Brungard from BBS Lingen Wirtschaft with his project “Drive-ToGether” for the simplified organization of carpooling (special prize for sustainability) and Artur Staub and Kuba Dykty from Bertha-von-Suttner-Oberschule Osnabrück for their project “Mr. Math“, a calculator with a learning function (special prize for education), each received a special prize.
The three teams impressed the jury with their presentations on the stage in Hall 6 at the IdeenExpo in Hanover, where the final event took place on June 11. The five final teams had previously prevailed against their competitors in a public vote. They had submitted an application video and a business model canvas as well as a detailed description of their project. The final teams’ pitches were followed by a keynote speech by entrepreneur, author and coach Ali Mahlodji and a panel discussion with (pictured from left) Martin Häusler (Coordinator of Sustainable Student Companies Lower Saxony), Dr. Alexander Georgiadis (Head of the Digitalization Department of the State of Lower Saxony), Prof. Dr. Bernhard H. Vollmar (Head of the ZE Center for Entrepreneurship at the PFH Private University of Applied Sciences Göttingen), Mika Danner (DigitalSTARTer winner 2022) and Linda Büscher (Founder and Managing Director of Bulletpoint GmbH).
On January 25, the kick-off event for DigitalSTARTer 2024 took place at the PFH Göttingen with a varied program.
After a keynote speech by Dr.-Ing. Alexander Georgiades, Head of the Digitalization Department at the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, Samir Roshandel (Niedersachsen.next Startup), Prof. Dr. Bernhard H. Vollmar and PD Dr. Mark Euler presented the content and process of the DigitalSTARTer competition in detail. As a best practice example for sustainable school projects , the NoFoodWaste team was a guest at the event and reported on their experiences during the project period, and in a panel discussion, stakeholders from schools, business and politics exchanged views on the importance of future skills and entrepreneurship in the school context. The supporting program was rounded off with musical interludes by pupils and a small market of opportunities for current school projects from Lower Saxony, which could be visited in the foyer before and after the event.
We would like to thank all the speakers, musicians, exhibitors and participants for a wonderful event!
The DigtalSTARTer is taking place for the second time. In 2022, school teams developed exciting digital-related projects as part of the competition and presented their ideas at the IdeenExpo in Hanover.
You can see a few impressions of the pitches and the subsequent award ceremony in the video.
The school competition serves to raise awareness of the topics of entrepreneurship and digitalization. It also prepares students for the challenges of the future professional world. Together as a team, they learn about the path from idea creation to implementation using self-directed and action-oriented methods. The focus of the competition is on the creative development of ideas in the context of digitalization with a focus on artificial intelligence.
Our own learning platform on Digitalstarter.org will be available from 1 February 2024 to support the development of content.
All school classes and school teams in years 8 to 13 from Lower Saxony can take part. The curricular integration is particularly suitable for the subjects of general studies, social studies, politics & economics/politics, philosophy, creative work, technology and computer science.
No, students and teachers can participate without any prior knowledge. On our digital learning platform, the necessary content for founding a digital startup is taught in a varied way. Thanks to the prepared content and intensive support from experts in every phase of the competition, the content-related effort for teachers is low.
