Entrepreneurship Research

Research in the field of entrepreneurship is a key component of the work of the ZE Center for Entrepreneurship. The knowledge gained is systematically incorporated into all fields of activity. The starting point is the concept of entrepreneurship as a complex learning and action process or as a special form of trust-based economic action practice. This is condensed in the broadest sense in the facets of entrepreneurial action competence and thus as a key qualification in the ability to change. This is why business start-ups, innovation, growth, sustainability and succession form the range of topics covered by the ZE Center for Entrepreneurship’s practice-oriented research. In this way, the respective requirements of innovative entrepreneurship are taken into account.

Research fields that are in focus and are being continuously expanded are, for example:

  • Entrepreneurial Finance
  • Social entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship
  • Entrepreneurial Ecosystems
  • Business model innovations
  • Influencer marketing
  • SMEs and family businesses
  • Innovation management and corporate entrepreneurship
  • Strategic and International Entrepreneurship
  • Company succession
  • Entrepreneurship education and training

We have incorporated and established our understanding of project-based entrepreneurship education in our own scientific approach, among other things. The early socialization phase in schools is a particularly important source of practice and experience. Entrepreneurship education is predestined to be used in every school subject, including in the context of “challenge-based learning”, in order to provide impetus to shape one’s own life in a self-determined, creative and responsible way. Acting as an “entrepreneur of oneself” is on the horizon. This scientifically sound approach, which has also been empirically validated with regard to the effectiveness of skills transfer, forms the supporting pillar and the conceptual foundation for our practical offerings in teaching, coaching and consulting.
